Samantha Busch has spoken publicly about the death of her husband, NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, offering an emotional account of grief while reflecting on the charitable work they created together.
Samantha, who was married to Kyle for 15 years and shares two children with him, accepted the Seeds of Hope Award at the Carlos Ródon Foundation’s Third Annual Willow Gala on Monday. The honor recognized the couple’s Bundle of Joy Fund, an initiative that provides financial grants to couples facing infertility.
In remarks at the event, Samantha acknowledged the painful reality of accepting an award connected to work she and Kyle had built as a couple — without him beside her.
“I never imagined I would be standing here accepting this award without Kyle,” she said, according to Hello! Magazine, which published the report by Faye James. “Losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my life.”
Her appearance marked a particularly significant public moment for Samantha. “And if I’m being truthful, there are still so many things I don’t understand, and so many times I wish God’s plan looked different than it does,” Samantha said.

Kyle Busch died on May 21 at the age of 41 after suffering from bacterial pneumonia that led to sepsis, according to previous reporting by Hello! Magazine.
The circumstances of his final illness made the loss particularly shocking. According to the outlet’s earlier reports, paramedics found the NASCAR star on the bathroom floor after he began coughing up blood. He was taken to a hospital in North Carolina and died approximately 24 hours later.

At the time of his death, he was also a father to Brexton, 11, and Lennix, four, with Samantha.
