26 people launched a 26-day “Long March” in France on 21 January as part of the international campaign launched in October 2023, demanding “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question”. The march draws public attention to Öcalan’s 26 years of captivity in the İmralı Island Prison in Turkey.

The activists will march through 26 different cities in France and conclude the action with a rally in Strasbourg on February 15, the anniversary of the international conspiracy that resulted in the capture of the Kurdish leader in Kenya and his handover to Turkey in 1999.

The action continues on its 9th day in the commune of Melun, where the activists were joined by Kurdish citizens and friends at the central station. They handed out leaflets to the residents, explaining the purpose of their action and the international campaign.

“None of us will be free until Leader Öcalan is free. We will continue our actions for our freedom, we will be on the streets. We are waiting for all our people to support and expand our action, and to participate in the glorious Strasbourg rally to take place on 15 February,” said the activists.
