The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established in the Parliament met for the fourth time on Tuesday.

Speaking before the meeting, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş stated that their most important tasks were to increase social consensus and secure support for the brotherhood process from different segments of society. He emphasized that “one of our most important duties is to increase social consensus, develop social awareness, and ensure that different segments of our society increase their support for this brotherhood process.”

Kurtulmuş pointed out that the process would be challenging, saying, “We are in a difficult process. We must work hard. We will discuss all of our issues here. We discussed how to proceed and what to do in the first internal meeting. We have decided who we will listen to now.”

“We will strive to listen to all institutional structures that can contribute to this process as much as possible, and ultimately we will show Turkey’s public how this process can be brought to a healthy conclusion,” said Kurtulmuş, further stating the following:

“One of the most important issues we need to pay attention to during this process is that, just as there are those in Turkey who want peace and brotherhood to reign until the end of time, there are also those who are working hard to prevent this from happening. It is known that there are those who are working to undermine this process both internally and externally, and who will seek to poison it. Therefore, it is especially important for us to unite our ranks and continue on our path successfully, without any gaps in our efforts.”

Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, who also attended the meeting, highlighted the importance of brotherhood and democracy, saying, “Without brotherhood, democracy cannot be firmly established. Without democracy, solidarity and brotherhood are under threat.”

The relatives of Turkish state forces killed and wounded in war and representatives of relevant associations will be heard by the commission. In the second session, the views of families who were forced to take action in front of the HDP Amed Provincial Organization building in previous years under the direction of the government will be sought.
