Publishing coordinators Uğur Koç and Berkant Gültekin were taken into custody together with birgun.net responsible executive Yaşar Gökdemir because of a news report published in the newspaper Birgün.

Birgün newspaper publishing coordinator İbrahim Varlı confirmed in a statement posted on social media that the newspaper’s publishing coordinators Uğur Koç and Berkant Gültekin were taken into custody together with birgun.net responsible eanager Yaşar Gökdemir.
Varlı said that the reason for the detention was the news about the Sabah newspaper reporter’s visit to Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. In his post he said: “Our newspaper BirGün executives were taken to Vatan Police Department. The reason was a report on the pro-government Sabah journalist’s visit to Akın Gürlek. We underline that Sabah and the pro-government journalist had spoken about the meeting themselves.”
