Preparations are complete for the 23rd Annual Kurdish Culture and Peace Festival, which will be held this year in Toronto, Canada.
The festival organizing committee called on all Kurds living in Canada to attend the event on Sunday, August 17, with their families.
Kadri Ertuğrul, co-chair of the Kurdish Community Center, emphasized the significance of the festival taking place at a time when peace is being discussed.
Local and national artists will perform at the event, and there will be dance performances reflecting Kurdish culture. In addition, there will be food, clothing, jewelry, and book stalls, as well as play areas for children.
The festival, which will be attended by Ahmet Karamus, Co-Chair of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), as a guest, will feature performances by artists such as Sherif Ömeri, Merwan Tan, Ruken Newa, Hêzîl, and Osman Mirwais. The festival will give voice to the Kurdish people’s language, culture, and longing for their homeland.
The event, which will also be attended by Canadian politicians, will take place in a carnival-like atmosphere. Kurdish Community Center co-chair Ertuğrul thanked the council members who contributed to the event and the tradespeople and business people who provided support, saying, “Together we will be very strong. Together we will be free.”
