Political prisoner Saye Sîdal issued an urgent appeal to the international community, drawing attention to the situation of journalist and civil activist Pakshan Azizi, who is facing severe pressure and assaults in prison.
She emphasized that the psychological and physical violence directed at Pakshan Azizi has become systematic and stressed that these attacks must come to an immediate end.
In a post shared on Saye Sîdal’s Instagram account, it was stated that Pakshan Azizi has been subjected to systematic torture for the past six months and that her execution is now “only two steps away.”
Saye Sîdal raised the question, “Where are these assaults coming from?”, a clear critique of the Iranian state’s repressive policies.
After Israel’s attack on Evin Prison on June 24, many political prisoners, including Pakshan Azizi, were transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison. Since that date, reports indicate that threats, pressure, and torture against political detainees have intensified.
In her statement, Saye Sîdal also declared that “the time for condemnation and observation is over,” emphasized that preventing the threats faced by Pakshan Azizi is a humanitarian and urgent responsibility.
Journalist and civil society activist Pakshan Azizi had traveled to conflict zones to support Yazidi women and displaced families during the ISIS’s attacks on Shengal and Rojava. However, upon returning to Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat), she was arrested by the Iranian regime, subjected to torture, and sentenced to death on January 8, 2025.
