The Prison Administration and Observation Board at Bolu Type F Prison has once again denied the release of five inmates. With this latest decision, the release of Ahmed Mustafa has now been blocked five times, Hasan İnci four times, Keyfo Başak and Nurettin Ataman seven times each, and Tuncay Doğan three times.
These individuals were previously included in a list of 33 prisoners whose releases had been obstructed.
DEM Party Şirnex (Şırnak) MP Newroz Uysal Aslan reacted to the decision via her digital media account, using the headline: “Arbitrary sentence extensions at Bolu Prison continue as a form of torture!”
In her statement, Newroz Uysal Aslan said: “These decisions show that prisoners are being deprived of their freedom solely because of their thoughts, despite having completed their sentences.
Prison Administration and Observation Boards have transformed penal law into a mechanism of ideological interrogation.
This practice is a clear indication that penal law has been reduced to a test of political loyalty.
We ask the Ministry of Justice: Where is justice? How much longer will you be complicit in this lawlessness?
Or are all these political decisions being made under your direct orders?”
