The “No to Execution on Tuesdays” campaign, led by prisoners in Iran, has entered its 77th week and has now expanded to 48 prisons with the participation of Yazd Prison. In a statement issued as part of the campaign, prisoners drew attention to the Iranian regime’s systematic executions and called for an escalation of the resistance.

Three political prisoners sentenced to death twice

The prisoners highlighted that, with recent developments, three political detainees are now facing severe execution sentences. They stated: “Fershad Etemadifar, Masoud Jami, and Alireza Mardasi have each been sentenced to death twice by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court.”

The statement also reported that three Arab political-religious prisoners, Ali Mojedem, Moein Hanferi, and Mohammad Reza Moghaddam, have been taken to execution cells and have not been heard from since. The statement warned, “Such uncertainty and silence bring with them a serious risk of enforced disappearance.”

It also noted that May Sato, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, has once again alerted the international community regarding the situation of the three detainees from Ahvaz. The statement called for urgent action: “These warnings must turn into a collective demand to immediately stop the executions.”

Judiciary distributes punishment, not justice

The statement emphasized that the fourth retrial request filed by political prisoners Mehdi Hasani and Behrouz Ehsani has also been rejected. It drew attention to the legal uncertainties within the case files and the obstruction of lawyers’ access to the documents, stressing that such practices are in clear violation of the law.

An average of two executions per day

The statement noted that since the beginning of July, at least 44 people, including one woman, have been executed. It recalled that two of them were publicly hanged in Miandoab and Bukan (Bokan). The following remarks were made: “These executions are displays of power by a regime in crisis, aiming to intimidate the public and suppress anger.”

Yazd Prison joins the resistance

The “No to Execution on Tuesdays” campaign has expanded following the participation of Yazd Prison. Prisoners emphasized that, despite the increasing pressure each week, the people and families continue to fight to protect their loved ones. They declared: “As participants in this campaign, we condemn the state repression targeting these families and call on the people to turn execution squares into spaces of resistance.”

We will tear down this system of executions and repression together

The prisoners emphasized that the campaign is not merely a protest but a movement for freedom. They stated: “People of Iran, your cries and your defiance can expose the crimes of this inhumane system. Our strength lies in our unity. Rest assured, we will tear down this system of executions and repression together.”
