The Kurdistan Women Journalists Union (ROJIN) protested the police raid on journalist Rabia Önver’s house on 20 September, following her report on prostitution and drugs in Hakkari (Colemêrg).
In a statement, ROJIN said “Journalist Rabia Önver, whose house was raided after an arrest warrant was issued for her due to the file report titled “Special War in Colemêrg,” is not alone. Rabia, who has done brave reporting, fulfilled the requirements of her profession by exposing the truth.
Rabia defended the public’s right to be informed, and showed the way to free reporting in Turkey. Journalism is not a crime. Do not try journalists, but criminals!”
