Scott Mills’ husband, Sam Vaughan, has publicly marked the couple’s second wedding anniversary, sharing a heartfelt wedding photograph in what appears to be the pair’s first social media update since Mills’ departure from the BBC earlier this year.
Vaughan posted a black-and-white image from the couple’s wedding ceremony in Spain on Instagram on Monday. Accompanying the photograph was a brief caption reading “2 years,” alongside a heart emoji.
The post attracted supportive messages from several well-known figures in broadcasting and entertainment. Among those responding were Rylan Clark, Zoe Ball, Sara Cox and singer Pixie Lott, who shared heart emojis and words of encouragement in the comments section.
The anniversary tribute comes amid a challenging period for Mills following his dismissal from the BBC in March over matters described by the broadcaster as relating to personal conduct.
The broadcaster later confirmed it had been aware since 2017 of a previous police investigation involving Mills. The inquiry, launched by the Metropolitan Police in 2016, examined allegations of serious sexual offences involving a boy under the age of 16 between 1997 and 2000.
The investigation concluded in 2019 after prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue charges. Mills has consistently maintained that he fully cooperated with the inquiry.
In April, Mills issued a statement through his legal representatives, addressing what he described as ongoing speculation surrounding his departure. He stated that he had cooperated fully with investigators throughout the process.
Attention has recently shifted to a developing legal dispute between Mills and the BBC. The former Radio 2 presenter is reportedly preparing an unfair dismissal claim against the broadcaster following his removal from the station’s breakfast programme.
Mills is understood to argue that senior BBC executives were informed of the full circumstances surrounding the historical investigation, including details regarding the allegations and the complainant’s age, when the matter first came to light years earlier.
The case is expected to draw further attention as legal proceedings move forward, while the anniversary post offered a rare glimpse into the couple’s personal life during a period of intense public scrutiny.
