Kurdish people’s friends in Argentina organized an event to protest the Turkish state’s attacks on Rojava. Within the scope of the event, human rights activists, artists and feminists watched the movie “Kobanê” and expressed their solidarity with the Kurdish people and their struggle.
Among those who attended the event were Miguel Mirra, known for his alternative documentaries, theater artist Mirta Israeli and activist Susana Ancarola.
The participants shared the following messages:
Miguel Mirra: “I am here to watch the movie Kobanê and to draw attention to what is happening in Rojava. We are greatly impressed by the struggle of the Kurdish people, especially women. We struggle for freedom, and identify the struggle of other peoples with our own struggle.”
Mirta Israeli (member of Panelus en Rebeldía and Abya Yala Feminists): “We gathered here to watch the movie Kobanê and to denounce the war in Rojava. We are also demanding the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, because we believe that his freedom will lead to the freedom of the Kurdish people.”
Susana Ancarola (member of the Latin American Movement for Social Change and the Popular Wind Front): “I would like to express my solidarity with the Kurdish people. I demand a halt to the attacks by the Turkish state. I find the renewing role of the Kurdistan women’s movement in the struggle for social change and freedom very meaningful. I believe that this struggle for women’s liberation will eliminate fascism and discrimination all over the world.”
Abya Yala Feminists also penned a letter expressing their support for the women’s revolution in Kurdistan and the Tishrin resistance. They vowed to defend the struggle of the women commanders who sacrificed their lives in the person of Martyr Arjin Kobanê and stressed that the Rojava Revolution is the revolution of all women in the world.
The feminists expressed their gratitude for the determination and struggle of the YPJ fighters and said that they share Kurdish women’s commitment to freedom, stating: “This struggle is a common resistance of women, which transcends borders and for which we are grateful.”
