For Stacey Solomon and her family, the next chapter has officially begun. After years of making memories at the much-loved Pickle Cottage, the television personality has offered fans their first glimpse of the new family home she shares with husband Joe Swash and their children.

Stacey, 36, shared the first look on Instagram on Friday night, posting a family photograph of herself, Joe and the children sitting together on the doorstep of their new property. Alongside the image, she wrote: “Home is wherever I’m with you… Pickle Project, Here We Go.”

The photograph marked a significant moment for the family after Stacey previously confirmed that they would be leaving their Essex home, a property that had become closely associated with her family life and her social-media presence.

The new house remains largely a mystery for now. Stacey has not yet revealed the full interior, but the first details suggest that the property has plenty of character. The entrance features imposing white double doors set against striking multicoloured tiles, giving fans an early indication of the style of the Victorian house.

A second photograph offered another tantalising glimpse inside. Stacey showed an impressive fireplace that appears to sit within one of the home’s spacious living rooms, although much of the property remains unseen.

“Happy Saturday. Feels so strange not to be waking up in Pickle Cottage but so excited to be taking it all in and wondering what to do with this place,” she wrote alongside the interior image.

The comments reflect the unusual position the move represents for Stacey. Pickle Cottage was not simply a house that the family occupied for several years; it became part of their story. Stacey frequently documented life there online, sharing glimpses of its rooms, gardens and outdoor spaces while building an audience around her approach to family life, interiors and home projects.

A new home after a deeply personal chapter

Stacey and Joe’s move comes after a period in which Pickle Cottage had been closely intertwined with some of the family’s most important milestones.

The couple moved into the property in 2021 after purchasing the former Tudor-style home for £1.2 million. Among its features were an outdoor swimming pool, a utility room, fireplaces and exposed wooden beams, elements that helped give the house the traditional character Stacey repeatedly celebrated.

The couple also married at Pickle Cottage in 2022, further cementing the property’s importance in their family history.

Stacey and Joe are parents to Rex, seven, Rose, four, and Belle, three. Stacey is also mother to Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 14, while Joe has a son, Harry, 19, from a previous relationship.

For that reason, the decision to leave was not presented as an easy or purely practical property choice.

In previous comments reported by Hello!, Stacey explained that the family had spent considerable time discussing the decision before making the move. She said they needed to speak with people around them, including their children, friends and neighbours, before moving forward.

“Leaving Pickle Cottage was a massive decision for us,” Stacey said, according to Hello!. “We had a lot of people we needed to speak to, we needed to get the kids around to the idea and speak to all our friends and neighbours in the area.”

The family ultimately waited until they believed the right opportunity had come along.

“We have just waited until someone amazing came along and fell in love with the cottage,” Stacey explained.

That detail is important to understanding the emotional weight of the move. Rather than describing Pickle Cottage as a home the family had simply outgrown, Stacey has consistently spoken about it with affection.

Why Stacey Solomon wanted more land

The main motivation behind the move was the family’s desire for additional outdoor space.

Stacey has previously spoken openly about wanting to rescue more animals and create a substantial vegetable-growing area. Those ambitions required something Pickle Cottage could not provide to the extent the family wanted.

“Pickle Cottage is our dream house,” Stacey said in comments reported by Hello!. “As soon as we moved here, we fell in love with it, and I still love it so, so much.”

Her connection to the property was particularly strong because two of her daughters were born there and because she and Joe married there.

“I gave birth to both of the girls there; we got married there,” she said. “It’s just so special to us.”

The family nevertheless had another vision for the future.

Stacey explained that they had long hoped to have the opportunity to rescue more animals and grow more vegetables. The possibility of obtaining additional land therefore became an important consideration when they began looking elsewhere.

When the family found another property that appeared to offer that opportunity, the decision became more compelling.

“We saw somewhere, and I was like, we could have a massive vegetable patch,” Stacey said, according to Hello!, adding that the family could potentially offer land to animals in need and bring horses and ponies back there.

“We went to see it, and we fell in love.”

From Pickle Cottage to the “Pickle Project”

Stacey’s description of the new property as the “Pickle Project” suggests that the move is not necessarily a departure from the home-focused projects that have become such a visible part of her public life.

Instead, it appears to represent a new phase of that interest.

Stacey has documented her life at the property on Instagram

The phrase also echoes the way Stacey has previously approached Pickle Cottage, documenting changes and projects around the property for her followers. While the full scope of the new house’s transformation has not yet been revealed, her first posts indicate that she is already thinking about what can be done with the space.

Her comment about waking up somewhere other than Pickle Cottage captures the transition particularly clearly. Even as the family begins settling into their new surroundings, Stacey acknowledged how strange it feels to leave behind a house that had been central to their lives.

At the same time, her message was distinctly forward-looking. She described herself as excited to take in the new property and consider what to do with it.

That combination of nostalgia and anticipation has defined Stacey’s explanation of the move so far. Pickle Cottage remains a deeply meaningful part of the family’s history, but the new house is intended to accommodate what they hope their family life will look like in the years ahead.

A family move with room to grow

For Stacey and Joe, the significance of the new property appears to extend beyond its architecture.

The family has grown substantially since they first moved into Pickle Cottage, and Stacey’s comments indicate that the search for a new home was driven partly by a desire to create an environment in which their family could continue to develop.

The couple moved into Pickle Cottage in 2021

“We built our lives together at Pickle Cottage,” she said, according to Hello!, “but now we have found somewhere where we can see our family growing and really flourishing, and this is the place.”

That distinction helps explain why the departure from such a beloved home could happen despite Stacey’s continuing affection for it. The move was not about erasing the family’s history at Pickle Cottage. Instead, the family’s priorities had evolved.

The first glimpse of the Victorian property therefore carries more significance than a simple house reveal. The photograph of Stacey, Joe and their children outside the front door represents the beginning of a new domestic chapter, while the fireplace and distinctive entrance offer only the earliest clues about the home they are now making their own.

For followers who have watched Stacey transform and document her previous property over the years, the new house is likely to become another long-running project. For now, however, the family is still at the beginning of that process.

And while Pickle Cottage will remain the place where Stacey and Joe married, where two of their daughters were born and where the family built years of memories, Stacey’s latest message makes clear that the focus has shifted toward what comes next.
