Tiger Woods is expected to miss all major golf championships in 2026 as the former world No. 1 continues to deal with the aftermath of his March arrest in Florida while focusing on his health and recovery.
The 50-year-old golfer did not enter the field for this year’s British Open before the qualification deadline and does not currently hold an exemption for the upcoming U.S. Open. Woods is now concentrating on treatment and rehabilitation at a recovery facility in Switzerland following the incident earlier this spring.

Woods was arrested on March 27 after a rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida. Authorities confirmed he registered a zero reading on a breathalyzer test at the scene but declined to provide a urine sample. Reports from the arrest indicated that two Hydrocodone pills were discovered in his possession. He was later released on bail and remains involved in ongoing legal proceedings connected to the case.

Following the arrest, Woods withdrew himself from consideration for the U.S. Ryder Cup captaincy and announced that he would temporarily step away from public and professional commitments to prioritize his health.
In a statement shared publicly after the incident, Woods acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and said he intended to focus on treatment and long-term recovery. He added that he hoped to return in a healthier and more stable place both personally and professionally while requesting privacy for himself and his family.

The latest setback comes after a difficult stretch in Woods’ career. He missed all four major tournaments in 2025 because of injury issues and underwent disk replacement surgery in October, marking the seventh back operation of his career.
Woods entered treatment in Switzerland on April 3 before returning to the United States earlier this month to support partner Vanessa Trump after she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. He also attended the high school graduation of Vanessa’s daughter, Kai, before reportedly flying back to Switzerland on May 24 aboard a private aircraft.

Woods and Vanessa Trump publicly confirmed their relationship in March 2025. In announcing her diagnosis, Trump said she had recently learned she was battling breast cancer and was working closely with doctors on a treatment plan. She also expressed gratitude for the support she had received from family and close friends during the process.
Away from golf, Woods is also facing business challenges. T-Squared Social, the entertainment and sports bar venture he co-owns with singer Justin Timberlake, was recently placed on the market.
The venue, located in St Andrews in the United Kingdom, opened in 2025 but faced criticism and operational difficulties during its early months. Management acknowledged the business experienced early setbacks and customer confusion surrounding the venue’s concept and overall experience.
