The Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe (TJK-E) has published its action plan on the second anniversary of the death of Jina Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old Kurdish woman died in Tehran on 16 September 2022, after being arrested and mistreated by the Iranian morality police.
The TJK-E is organizing its activities this year under the slogan “No to the death penalty, yes to free life”.
The “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” philosophy has become universal
In a statement, the TJK-E said: “The patriarchal system and the structure it embodies, the nation-states, continue to systematically exercise the role of oppressor, ruler and destroyer on women. They have made women socially, politically and culturally invisible by locking them at home, and they have tried to determine the limits of their freedom by molding women according to their own norms. These systems, which lock women into the boundaries of the forbidden, shameful and sinful, dictate to people the idea of obeying and thus living well. Against this policy known as state tradition, organized women are leading the struggle of the peoples by increasing their self-defense day by day.”
Two years ago, the assassination of Jina Mahsa Amini by the morality police in Iran brought women to the streets and sparked a major uprising against the practices of the Iranian regime. The resistance began in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran and spread in waves all over the world. Abdullah Öcalan’s “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” philosophy became universal and the freedom motto of the women’s struggle in all languages.
No to the death penalty, yes to free life
The TJK-E paid tribute to “all women who, like Jina Amini, were murdered at the hands of the male state. We say ‘No to the death penalty, yes to free life’ and call on our people, and especially women, to take part in the actions that will take place in many European cities from September 12 to 16.”
