Human rights organizations reported that Ahmad Golestani, Mohammad Golestani, Behzad Golestani, Mohsen Golestani, Ehsan Golestani, Mehran Golestani, Farzad Mostafazadeh, Hamid Mostafazadeh, and Shoresh Mostafazadeh were detained in the village of Nojavan in Somay and in the Bradost region near Urmia. They were charged with “working for Israel,” an arbitrary and systematic accusation often used against dissidents.
According to reports, officials affiliated with the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps tortured the detainees during their arrest and then transferred them to a prison in Tehran.
Families stated that they have received no information about the exact location where their relatives are being held or about their health conditions.
According to human rights defenders, at least 21,000 people have been detained across Iran since the end of the war.
